Diane Sawyer is an American news anchor with a net worth of $80 million. She is the current anchor of ABC's flagship news program ABC World News. Sawyer was born on December 22, 1945 in Glasgow Kentucky. Her family moved to Louisville shortly after her birth.

Diane Sawyer's father was a politician who was killed in a car accident in 1959. She was an editor in chief for Seneca High School and won first place for "America's Junior Miss" Kentucky. She received her Bachelor's of Arts from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1967. She became a weather forecaster for a news station in her home state of Kentucky and moved to Washington D.C. in 1970. Sawyer found work as a government press aide after being unable to find work as a journalist.

Sawyer became literary assistant to Richard Nixon and soon after found work as a CBS morning news anchor in 1981. In 1984 she became a correspondent for 60 Minutes and became a co anchor for Primetime Live, and became a co anchor of the show 20/20 in 1998. She was Good Morning America's co anchor for ten years, from 1999 to 2009.
