In high school, he formed his first band. It was an acoustic collaboration with a high school friend. In Miami, he formed the group called “Desmond Child and Rouge” in 1973 with singers Diana Grasselli and Maria Vidal. The group then shifted to New York to pursue their musical dreams. Here they hired another singer Myriam Valle.

His songs were liked by the guitarist Paul Stanley, and so he asked Desmond to co-write a track for the band’s 1979 Dynasty album. Desmond wrote the song “I Was Made For Loving You”. This song was one of the biggest hits. Paul Stanley then gave Child’s phone number to Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. These three then wrote the first number one single for Bon Jovi. The song was “You Give Love a Bad Name”. They worked in two more songs – “Bad Medicine” and “Livin on a Prayer”.

Desmond Child lives in Nashville, TN, with Curtis Shaw. The couple has two sons, Roman and Nyro. They are twins.
