Desi Arnaz Jr. was born in January 1953 in Los Angeles, and his birth was one of the most well-publicized in television history. His birth was boldly written into the plot of 'I Love Lucy' at the time of his mother's pregnancy, and his father appeared on the show as well. As a result, Lucy Ricardo, a fictional character, gave birth to Little Ricky on the same day that Desi Arnaz Jr. was born. Desi Arnaz Jr. started playing drums in a band when he was 12 years old. He used to perform with Dean Martin's son Dean Paul Martin and Billy Hinsche at Dino, Desi, &' Billy.
