English-Canadian DJ and electronic musician Richie Hawtin has an estimated net worth of $8.5 million. Though he was born in Oxfordshire, England and grew up in Windsor, Ontario, he was an influential part of Detroit techno’s second wave of artists in the early 1990's. He was also a leading exponent of Minimal techno since the mid-90's.

Hawtin is best known for his abstract, minimal works under the alias Plastikman. Born on June 4, 1970, Richard Hawtin moved at the age of nine to LaSalle, Ontario, Canada. The place is across the river from Detroit where techno music was born. His father, a fan of electronic music, introduced him to Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream at an early age. At 17, he already began to DJ in clubs in Detroit. His early style was a mix of house music and techno.

Along with Canadian DJ John Aquaviva, Hawtin formed the label Plus 8 in 1990. He then started releasing tracks under the name F.U.S.E. While he was in Detroit, he has created and run a number of successful electronic music parties and events. He has released a total of 14 albums under the names F.U.S.E., Plastikman, and Concept1. He later relocated to New York City and then to Berlin, Germany where he currently lives and works. Aside from touring and recording, he is also part of the team od DJs who teach seminars, workshops, and symposiums on electronic music at several universities as part of the “CNTL: Beyond EDM”.
