Known as Dennis Duffy on 30 Rock, Ryan O'Reilly on Oz, and Johnny Gavin on Rescue Me,  Dean Winters debuted on his acting career when he played a role in the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Alongside Yasmine Bleeth, Dean Winters starred in the 1999 romantic comedy movie titled Undercover Angel. Among his other TV and film projects include Life On Mars, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Hellraiser: Hellseeker, PS, I Love You, Homicide: Life on the Street, Third Watch, CSI: Miami, NYPD Blue, Happy Town and Sex In The City.

Unfortunately, after taping for Happy Town, Dean Winters had a bacterial infection which led him to collapse in his doctor’s office. While at the ambulance, his heart stopped beating for around 2 and a half minutes but the paramedics were able to revive him. Not long after, he was diagnosed with gangrene which required the amputation of two of his toes and half of his thumb.
