David grew up in Canton, Michigan and graduated from the Salem High School. He got a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Michigan. He also trained at the William Esper Studios. He made his Broadway debut in “Gypsy”, which starred the actress Bernadette Peters. David won the 2001 Clarence Derwent Award for the Most Promising Male Performer as The Boy in the American premiere of “The Play About the Baby”.

He played the role of Matt in the 2004 musical “The Opposite of Sex”. His first performance on television was a guest role in “The West Wing”.
