Joe Torry is an American comedian and actor.

Joe Torry started his acting career at age of 23. With his witty style of humor, he began to appear at Strictly Business and House Party. He also made guest appearance in several television shows such as ER, NYPD. Blue, NCIS, and The Conan O' Brien Show. He became a crowd favorite on Def Comedy Jam.

In 1992, Torry's biggest break in his career as a comedian came when he was given a hosting job at Def Comedy Jam right after Martin Lawrence left the show.

His exposure in hosting a show made him landed a role in films such as Motives 1 & 2, Lock Down, Hair Show, Poetic Justice, and Sprung among others. Torry also appeared in various commercials for Anheuser, Busch, Pepsi and Nike.

In 1996, Torry founded Giving Back the Love Foundation. As he gives back to his hometown community in St. Louis through youth and community programs. He founded his own production company, MO Films in 2003. He plans to bring filmmaking to the Midwest and help other actors, musicians and artists to showcase their talent.

Joseph Pierre Torry was born on September 28, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he earned a B.A. in mass communications/broadcast journalism. In 2001, Lincoln honored him with both The President's Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2002 an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters. He was also inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2001. He is married to Chrystal Benson, with whom he has two sons.
