Dave Chappelle is known as a comedian, sketch comic, and as an actor with a net worth around $42 million. His wealth is mostly due to the success of The Chappelle's Show. He began his career in the entertainment business in 1993 when he played a role in the movie Robin Hood: Men in Tights. After that, he continued to have minor roles in movies like The Nutty Professor, Blue Streak, and Con Air. It wasn't until 1998 that he had his first lead role in the movie Half Baked. Dave Chappelle only really became popular when he starred in his sketch comedy series The Chappelle's Show in 2003.
Chappelle retired abruptly in 2005 when he left South Africa during the production of the third season. He had stated that The Chappelle's Show was "ruining his life", and that he hated working 20 hours a day because he was not able to focus on his stand-up career, which was the most important to him.
