Arthur Steven Lange grew up in an Italian-American family in Union, New Jersey and as a young boy, he dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. As he was growing up, he developed a passion for making people laugh which eventually pushed him to start a career as a stand-up comedian.

In the late 1980's, Lange pursued sketch comedy and created a group called Live on Tape. due to his talent, he landed a role in Fox's MADtv in 1995 but was fired two years later due to substance abuse. It was when he joined the Howard Stern Show in 2001 that his career exploded and he made a name for himself as one of the funniest guys in Hollywood.

Lange landed a lead role in the comedy film Beer League in 2006 and after two years, he wrote a book called Too Fat To Fish, which quickly became a best-seller. He also produced two stand-up comedy DVDs in 2004 and 2009, respectively.
