Colin Luther Powell, better known as Colin Powell, is a retired four-star general in the United States Army and a statesman. He has a net worth of $50 million. He was born on 5th April 1937 in Harlem. He served under George W. Bush, the former President of the United States as the 65th Secretary of State from 2001 to 2005. He was the first African-American who served this high position. Before that, Powell was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, another senior position in the country. He was also the National Security Advisor between 1987 and 1989.
Powell has served the United States Army as a professional soldier for thirty-five years. During his long years of service, he has presided over many commands and staff positions. He rose to the rank of General in the army because of his commitment, dedication, and excellence. He joined the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) when he was in college, and says that these were the happiest days of his life. He served the army in the Vietnam War as a Captain in the South Vietnamese Army (ARVN).
He has received many badges and medals for his work, like the Army Staff Identification Badge, Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge, the Bronze Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, the Soldier’s Medal and much more. He has also received Civilian honors and awards which include two Presidential Medals of Freedom, the Citizens Medal, and the Congressional Gold Medal.
Colin Powell has served many United States Presidents in various capacities. He remains a very powerful man to this day, whose opinions are always considered with seriousness.
He married Alma Johnson on 25th August 1962. The couple has three children – Michael Powell, Linda Powell, and Annemarie Powell.
