Cenk Uygur was born in Istanbul, Turkey into a Muslim family. He lived until he was eight when he and his family moved to the United States, more specifically New Jersey. He went to the University of Pennsylvania where he got a degree in management. Later on, he went to Columbia College where he got his law degree.
Uygur's stint talk show radio came when he appeared on a radio show that broadcast to D.C. and Boston. Soon after that, he wrote for, appeared on and even produced The Times in Miami.
In 2002, Cenk Uygur along with Ana Kasparian started The Young Turks which was on satellite radio. Today, Uygur and Kasparian run the biggest web-based news show in the world. On YouTube, The Young Turks have amassed an amazing one billion views and over one million subscribers. In September 2011, The Young Turks became a show on Current TV. It had the same name but only Uygur appeared on it to have it be a bit different than the online series.
