He has earned his wealth from his associations with the Missionary Baptist Church as a senior pastor. This is a mega church located in Georgia, United States. When he started working here as a pastor, in 1987, there were only 300 church members. This has subsequently grown to 25,000. Bishop Eddie Long was born on 12th May 1953 in Huntersville, North Carolina. He attended the North Carolina Central University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He also holds a degree from the unaccredited International College of Excellence in “Pastoral Ministry”.
In 1981, he married Dabara S. Houston. But this didn’t last. The couple divorced soon after. He remarried Vaness Griffin Long. This marriage failed too. They divorced in 2001. Houston claimed that she was a victim of domestic violence and that she and her son had to flee to be safe.
Long has been involved with several controversies. It was said that he personally profited from his church's tax-exempt status. He was also accused of having sexual relations with underage male members of his parish. However, he was able to establish himself innocent, thus proving that all the accusations were false.
