In a 2003 meeting Gibbard mentioned that while he had formerly been a vegetarian, he had lately become a pescetarian. Gibbard has won awards and recognitions for his wonderful career. He had a part in the John Krasinski movie “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men” which was made on the short story of David Foster Wallace. Later in 2007, Gibbard completed a solo tour of the US with Pedro the Lion’s David Bazan and Johnathan Rice, the singer-songwriter.

Ben Gibbard was engaged to Zooey Deschanel, the musician and actress in 2008, and married her later in 2009. However, the couple separated two years later, and was subsequently divorced.

Ben was reported to be suffering from alcohol problems. However the good thing is that, Gibbard was able to give it up in 2008. As a way to stay out of his addiction, Ben took to running marathons.
