Cecily von Ziegesar is famous as the author of the young adult novel series Gossip Girl that was eventually adapted into a television series in the year 2007. When asked by Seventeen magazine if the content of her books came from her own experience in high school and college, her reply was to try something that you never did before. She eventually claimed that she did not have any idea as to why her books were successful. Her Gossip Girl series eventually had 11 books in the original series as well as spin-off series, prequels and a television series that was able to run for five seasons. Because of the success of the television series, it eventually got touted as one of the most successful young adult franchises. Ziegesar graduated with a degree in English from Colby College. After a year in the MFA program in fiction writing at the University of Tucson, she dropped out. She eventually resided in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Richard, who is also the Deputy Director of the Public Art Fund. The couple has two children named Oscar and Agnes.
