Anne Meara is an American actress and comedian who started her career with improvisation company "The Compass Players" in 1954. During that time, she was paired with her husband, Jerry Stiller, as the comedy team, Stiller and Meara.

The couple became regulars on The Ed Sullivan Show. In the 1970s, Meara and Stiller wrote and performed several radio commercials for Blue Nun Wine.

She had a recurring role on the sitcom Rhoda, and appeared in the 1978 film, The Boys from Brazil.

She starred in CBS' television series Kate McShane, for which she was nominated for an Emmy Award. The series was cancelled after 10 episodes.

In the early 1980s, she starred opposite Carroll O'Connor and Martin Balsam on the sitcom Archie Bunker's Place. She also had recurring roles on Sex and the City and The King of Queens.

In 2010, she and her husband Jerry starred in the Yahoo! web series Stiller & Meara. It was produced by Red Hour Digital, a production company owned by their son, actor-comedian Ben Stiller.

Anne Meara was born on September 20, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She married fellow comedian Jerry Stiller in 1954. Meara converted to Reform Judaism six years after marrying Stiller. They have 2 children, Amy and Ben, who both work as actors.
