Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actress and model with an estimated net worth of $2 million. She was born Shannon Ashley Mitchell on April 10, 1987 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada to Filipino and Irish/Scottish parents. She is also a first cousin of singer and Tony Award-winning theater actress Lea Salonga. As a child, she was already interested in performing arts and wanted to pursue a career in the field. She began taking dance lessons at the age of five and has also competed with other dance schools.

Mitchell’s family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia when she was ten. An agency held an open casting call for teen and pre-teen girls vying for representation and she was one of those who were selected, launching her international modelling career. Since then, she has modelled for a wide range of companies in cities such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Barcelona.

Returning to Toronto to study acting, Mirtchell signed with her first agency, and landed a role on the Canadian teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2009. She also had several national commercials including Pantene, where she is the spokesperson for the Pantene Nature Fusion line, and American Eagle Outfitters.
