Mia Wasikowska is an Australian actress and director with an estimated worth of $8 million. In 2004, she made her feature film debut in Suburban Mayhem, following her appearance on the Australian television drama All Saints (2006). Following her critically praised role on the HBO television series In Treatment, she has become more well-known. For That Evening Sun, she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female (2009).

Wasikowska grew up in the Australian Capital Territory, where she was born and raised. She went to Cook Primary School, Ainslie Primary School, and Canberra High School in Canberra, as well as Karabar High School in Queanbeyan, a suburb of Canberra. Marzena Wasikowska, her mother, is a Polish-born photographer, and John Reid, her father, is an Australian photographer and collagist. Wasikowska and her family moved to Szczecin, Poland, for a year in 1998, when she was eight years old.

At the same time, she had grown up watching European and Australian films, and was particularly moved by Krzysztof Kielowski's Three Colours trilogy and Gillian Armstrong's My Brilliant Career. Wasikowska was inspired to break into acting after seeing Holly Hunter in The Piano and Gena Rowlands in A Woman Under the Influence, despite being shy and averse to performing during her school years. She saw acting in films and shows as a way to explore human flaws. Wasikowska searched the Internet for twelve Australian talent agencies and contacted them all, but only one responded. She set up a meeting despite her lack of acting experience after numerous callbacks.

Her first big break role in the United States came at the age of seventeen when she was cast as Sophie, a suicidal gymnast, in HBO's acclaimed weekly drama In Treatment. Wasikowska was able to get roles in American films thanks to this show. In Defiance, she played Chaya. She won an Australians in Film Breakthrough Award in June 2008 for her work in the movie In Treatment. The movie star was cast alongside Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway in Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland in July 2008 for which she received the Australian Film Institute International Award for Best Actress. With $1.025 billion in box office receipts, Alice in Wonderland was one of the highest-grossing films of 2010. It is still one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

The actress also starred in the gender-bending drama Albert Nobbs (2011), the western Lawless (2012), the comedy The Double (2012), and the biopic Tracks (2013). She appeared alongside Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain in Guillermo del Toro's 2015 gothic romance Crimson Peak, in which she replaced Emma Stone. The film's production began in February 2014, with a release date of October 16, 2015. In the 2016 sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Wasikowska reprised her role as Alice. Mia Wasikowska's movies have made 1.03 billion making her one of the highest grossing actors in the world.  She gets approximately $250, 000 per film. As of 2021, Mia Wasikowska’s net worth is $8 million.
