Follows began her acting career when she was nine years old and got a spot in a Bell Canada commercial.
She appeared on several TV series, including Matt and Jenny, The Mating Season, The Baxters, and The Littlest Hobo. In 1983, she joined the short film, Boys and Girls, which won an Academy Award for Best Short Subject.
