Marielle Heller is an American director, writer and actress best recognized for winning the 2012 Sundance Directing Fellow, as well as the 2012 Sundance Screenwriting Fellow. To date, she has written plays and screenplays which include The Diary of a Teenage Girl.

Marielle Heller was born on October 1, 1979 in California, USA. Since June 30, 2007, she was married to Jorma Taccone. She studied at RADA in London, and University of California Los Angeles.

Heller wrote the pilot episode for The Big Apple which was aired on ABC. Also, she wrote the Renegade X, a Disney movie. She appeared on the world premiere of “Continental Divide” by David Edgar which was directed by Tony Taccone. Continental Divide was considered as the theater event of the year by TIME Magazine.
