Karisma Kapoor is an Indian actress best known for her appearance on many commercially successful Bollywood films. Today, she is considered one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses.

Karisma Kapoor was born on June 25, 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Currently, she is married to Sanjay Kapur, with whom she has two children named Samiera and Kiaan Raj Kapoor.

Born into a family of actors, Karisma debuted into acting in 1990 with Prem Qaidi. Subsequently, she appeared on several successful films like Anari, Jigar, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Gopi Kishan, Suhaag and  Saajan Chale Sasural & Jeet. 

In 1996, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress with her appearance in Raja Hindustani, and a year later, she was featured on Dil To Pagal Hai, a romantic drama film which earned her National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her appearance on Zubeidaa  in 2001 won her the Best Actress Critic award, as well as Best Actress trophies from the Filmfare ceremony.
