Jackee is popular for her roles as Sandra Clark, a character which she played in the TV series 227 that ran for four years between 1985 and 1989 – 99 episodes. Another performance that sets her apart is that of the mom of Tia, as Lisa Landry, in the comedy “Sister, Sister”.
She was born in North Carolina and have been born and brought up in Harlem. Her father was African American and mother was from Trinidad. She studied acting in New York and started a career with the New York Stage. Jackee acted in a Broadway Musical. Her TV debut was in 1983. She also became the first African-American to get an Emmy Award for the role of a supporting actress in the comedy series. Her acting skills seen in 227, motivated NBC producers to start a TV pilot, which was named 'Jackee'. This pilot series however failed to catch the attention of the audience, and as a result, it was later made into an episode of 227. In “Sister, Sister”, Jackee gets recognition for her role as an adoptive mother.
Harry has always been a familiar face in the theatre world. She has acted in plays like “Lady Day at Emersons Bar and Grill”. She also acted in the stage productions of Damn Yankees, A Christmas Carol and The Sunshine Boys.
