At the age of 16, Debbie was signed by Warner Bros. Later MGM signed her to cast her in their new film “Three Little Words” of 1950. Her role was small, but it was an important part. After the success of this film, Debbie was signed for a 7-year long contract. She then appeared in “Two Weeks With Love” of 1950 which had a song “Aba Daba Honeymoon”. She made her debut as a lead actress in 1952 with “Singin’ in the Rain”. This was a kind of a turning point for Debbie, as the movie became an epic.

Debbie was born in 1st April 1932 and is originally from Texas. She was born as Mary Frances Reynolds. Her mother was Maxine, and her father Raymond Francis Reynolds was by profession a carpenter. Debbie was a troop leader of Girl Scouts when she was young. In 1939 the family moved to California and at the age of 16, while still in the John Burroughs High School, she won the Miss Burbank beauty contest and the contract with Warner Bros.

In 1957 she appeared in “Tammy and the Bachelor” and had a super hit song Tammy which made it to #1 on the charts. In 1964, she again appeared in “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” and received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Debbie’s two other songs “A Very Special Love” and “Am I That Easy to Forget” reached the Billboard charts as well.

Debbie married Eddie Fisher, but the marriage ended in 1959 as he was in love with Elizabeth Taylor.
