Christine Baranski is best known for her Emmy Award-winning performance on the sitcom Cybill as the character know as "Maryanne Thorpe" She also received an Emmy nomination for her role as "Diane Lockhart" on the TV series The Good Wife.

Before embarking a career in film and television, Baranski started her career as an aspiring Broadway actress.

In 1980, Baranski appeared in the Off-Broadway production of Coming Attractions, which was performed at Playwrights Horizons. She went on to performed in many more Off-Broadway productions including the 1982 play Sally and Marsha at the Manhattan Theatre Club. She made her Broadway debut with Hide & Seek in 1980; she also starred in other Broadway productions including Hurlburly, The House of Blue Leaves, and Rumors. She was the winner of the 1984 Tony Award Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in the Broadway play The Real Thing, written by Tom Stoppard.

She was known for her role as Kitty Hurley in the television series The Bounty Hunter, "Amanda" in the 2011 made for television movie Who is Simon Miller?, and as a reoccurring character on the hit series The Big Bang Theory.

Christine Jane Baranski was born on May 2, 1952 in Buffalo, New York, USA. She studied at Villa Maria Academy and later attended Juilliard School. She married Matthew Cowles, an actor, with whom she has two daughters.
