About Sherwin David Harris
Harris is recognized for his roles as Motaw in Above the Rim, the movie from 1994. Of course, he has performed in many other films and also on television shows, but it is this depiction that has given him the most recognition. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Theater Arts from the Northern Illinois University (NIU), and a Master of Arts from the New York University.
The wealth of Wood Harris increased after entering his first major role in the basketball film, Above the Rim (1994). Harris was awarded the New York Film Festival's 1st Run Best Actor award for acting in "Derrick 'D-Train' Trainer" in Morningside Prep, a thirty minute short movie that was directed by the rising filmmaker, Malcolm Lee.
Harris acknowledged his first NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture along with the Blockbuster Movie Award nomination for Favorite Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role as Julius "Big Ju" Campbell in “Remember The Titans”. He produced his own debut album, “Beautiful Wonderful”. It was released in 2005.
In June 2008, the director Martin Guigui announced on his production blog that Harris was cast as Nate "Sweetwater" Clifton in Sweetwater, the movie about the first black player in the NBA.
Harris has acted in “Just Another Day”, portraying an up-and-coming rapper called A-maze. In 2012, Harris narrated the ESPN 30 for 30 film Benji.
