Actor William Shatner has a net worth of $100 million. Like Jack Nicholson, Star Trek icon William Shatner made it onto the Celebrities Who Spend Wisely list thanks to one particularly shrewd piece of negotiation.
In 1997, the actor - previously best known for his role as Captain Kirk in the cult series - was hired to front a TV campaign for US travel website Priceline.com. With the dotcom bubble in full swing, Shatner agreed to take shares in the firm as part of his payment.
That bubble burst in 2000, causing the firm's shares to slump to just $1.80 (£1.10). But those shareholders who rode out the storm had the last laugh, with the same shares now trading at over $400 (£252).
In May last year, the Telegraph reported that Shatner had already made $600 million from the firm's success.
From 2004 to 2008, he starred as attorney Denny Crane in the television dramas The Practice and its spin-off Boston Legal, for which he won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. Shatner currently stars in the CBS sitcom $#*! My Dad Says.
