Indian actress Vidya Balan has an estimated net worth of $15 million. She was born on January 1, 1979 in Ottaplam, Kerala, India, and grew up in Chembur, Mumbai. She attended St. Anthony Girls’ High School and started aspiring for an acting career at a young age.

Balan made her acting debut at the age of 16 when she landed her first role in the 1995 sitcom Hum Paanch. She decided to finish her education, and went on to attend St. Xavier’s College to pursue a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She later earned a master’s degree from the University of Mumbai.

When Balan returned to acting, she had a hard time looking for work. She was forced to act in television commercials and music videos. She played the role of Anandi in the independent drama Bhalo Theko which earned her an Anandalok Purashkar for Best Actress. It was in 2005 that she had a successful appearance in a leading role in the 2006 blockbuster Lage Rho Munna Bhai.
