He has done many films and television series. However, the roles he is famous for are in Taps, The Dark Half and The Falcon and the Snowman. Between 2008 and 2012, Timothy Hutton starred as Nathan “Nate” Ford on the drama series Leverage. The final episode of the series was aired on 25th December, 2012.
Timothy was born in Malibu, California – the son of Jim Hutton, the actor. His mother was a teacher. However his parents separated when Hutton was only three years old. He then shifted to Boston with his mother. Timothy returned to California when he was 12.
His career began with the 1979 ABC TV film, “Friendly Fire”. The same year he starred in Ross Hunter – a NBC television film, The Best Place to Be as Donna Reed’s son. Hutton has won many awards over a long career. He has received the Academy Award as well as the Golden Globe in the Best Supporting Actor category. He worked in the 1981 ABC television film A Long Way Home soon after these major awards. He was cast opposite Brenda Vaccaro in this movie.
Hutton married actress Debra Winger in 1986. The couple has a son Noah. However they split after just four years. In 2000, Timothy married the illustrator Aurore Giscard d’Estaing. She is the niece of the former French President Valery Giscard d’Estaing. They have a son Milo.
