Ralph Waite was born on June 22, 1928 in White Plains, New York, USA. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. He attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Then, he earned a master's degree from Yale University Divinity School. He married Linda East and has three children.
