About Omar Epps

Omar Hashim Epps is an American rapper, songwriter, actor, and record producer with a net worth of $15 million. His film roles include The Wood, Juice, Higher Learning, Love and Basketball, and In Too Deep. His TV work includes the role of Dr. Eric Foreman on the Fox medical drama series House from 2004 to 2012, Dr. Dennis Gant on the medical drama series ER and J. Martin Bellamy in Resurrection.

Epps was born in Brooklyn, New York. His parents divorced, and his mother, Bonnie Maria Epps, an elementary school principal, raised him. He lived in different neighborhoods as he grew up (Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York, and East Flatbush ). He became a member of a rap group called Wolfpack before he started acting. When he was ten, he began writing poetry, short stories and songs. He came from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

Epps got a role on the hit television drama ER and played Dr. Dennis Gant, a troubled surgical intern. After working on ER, Epps returned to the big screen in 1997 as a moviegoer on a date with a lady played by Jada Pinkett. She ends up an early victim of a psycho slasher in the blockbuster sequel Scream 2. In 1997 Epps became the star of the HBO fact-based movie First Time Felon. He played the role of a small-time criminal who goes through Chicago’s boot camp reform system. Afterwards, he undertakes a heroic flood rescue and adjusts to the re-entering society with the mark of an ex-con.
