Daley was born on July 20, 1985 in Wheeling, Illinois, United States. He began his career at age three after appearing in The Who's Tommy as the young Tommy. After his notable appearance on the  Freaks and Geeks TV series, he went on to appear in numerous TV programs, including Boston Public, Spin City, Judging Amy, Kitchen Confidential, Regular Joe, and The Geena Davis Show.

In addition to being an actor, Daley is also known for writing the box office hit Horrible Bosses. He was the co-writer for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Friday Night. 

Since 2007, Daley has already appeared on 119 episodes of Bones as Dr. Lance Sweets. From 1999 to 2000, he appeared on 18 episodes of Freaks and Geeks. On The Geena Davis Show, Daley appeared on 22 episodes.
