He was married to Kathryn Morrison, a costume designer before they broke up and he married Sarah Owen, a horse trainer who happened to be 16 years younger than him. He has also has several affairs with high-profile personalities such as Sean Young, who was part of the cast in the film "The Boost' which Woods was part of. However, the 65 year old actor is currently single.

He has a number of achievements in his cap having won several awards including the Golden Globe, Theatre World, The Obie and even the Clarence Derwent Award. He has had a record ten nominations for the Golden Globe Awards.
