Jamel Debbouze's showbiz career commenced when he was spotted by Jacques Massadian and Jean-François Bizot, the bosses of Radio Nova in 1995. He debuted on Radio Nova's Le Cinéma de Jamel, a film review show.

Debbouze took Le Cinéma de Jamel to television on Canal+ in 1998. He also contributed to a show called H on Canal +.

On film, he appeared in Zonzon in 1998, Amélie in 2001, Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cléopâtre in 2002, and Luc Besson's Angel-A in 2005.

In 2006, he co-produced the historical film Indigènes where he also appeared. He received the coveted best male actor award at the 59th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

In 2008, Debbouze opened Jamel Comedy Club in Paris. The next year, he collaborated with rap group 113 and Awa Imani for the project Maghreb United of Rim'K'.

In 2010, he released his own DVD, Made in Jamel, which featured Gad Elmaleh, Florence Foresti, Elie Semoun, Stromae, Didier Bourdon, Noureddine Oussayah and Sophie Mounicot.

He became the chairman of the César Awards in 2013. Jamel Debbouze was born on June 18, 1975 in Paris, France. He married French journalist and news anchor Mélissa Theuriau on May 7, 2008.
