About Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman
Alan is famous for his capability to act without difficulty in both modern and classical productions. Alan has been a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He received a standing ovation for his performance in Les Liaisons Dangereuses as Vicomte de Valmont, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. Rickman is known for his performances in Die Hard, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. In 1991, Alan won a BAFTA Award for his supporting role in Robin Hood as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Rickman earned the James Joyce award in 2009.
Alan Rickman is popularly known as Severus Snape because of his performance in the Harry Potter series. Rickman also appeared in Michael Collins, Dogma, Truly, Madly, Deeply, and An Awfully Big Adventure. In 1995 he appeared as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, which was directed by the Academy Award winner Ang Lee. This movie received a lot of positive reviews. Rickman appeared in the 2007 movie Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street that was directed by Tim Burton along with Helena Bonham Carter who is a co-star in the Harry Porter series. He has worked as a voice artist in recent years too. In 2010 he gave his voice for Absolem in “Alice in Wonderland”. In October and November of 2010, Rickman returned to stage with John Gabriel Borkman. And in 2011, he appeared as Snape for the last time. Critics claim that it was his best performance yet.
