Amy Dumas became interested in the world of wrestling when she watched one of the episodes of WCW Monday Nitro featuring Rey Mysterio Jr.. She packed her things to Mexico in 1998 and was trained by several wrestlers such as Kevin Quinn, Ricky Santana, and Miguel Perez.

She started her career as a wrestler when she worked in Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW) and was known for her ring name, Angelica. Then, when she debuted at WWF in 2000, she changed her ring name to Lita. She was paired with luchador Essa Rios. Dumas joined the Team Xtreme with Matt and Jeff Hardy, and during her stint at WWE, she won four times in the Women's Championship.

Upon her retirement from wrestling in 2006, she formed a punk-rock band, The Luchagors and released its debut album in 2007.

Amy Christine Dumas was born on April 14, 1975 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  She studied at Georgia State University as she took up a degree in education.
