Eugenie Bouchard started playing tennis at the age of five. Eventually, she became a member of Tennis Canada's National Training Centre. At age 12, she transferred to Florida with her mom and trained under coach Nick Saviano. Three years later, she returned to Montreal to continue her training.
A former junior Grand Slam champion, Bouchard was known as an aggressive baseliner and became the first Canadian to reach the Wimbledon final against Petra Kvitova in 2014. She turned professional in 2009.
