Retired Scottish professional snooker player, Stephen Gordon Hendry has a net worth of $16.5 million. The son of an Edinburgh greengrocer, Hendry has won the world championship a record seven times and earned £8.6 million in prize money. He left school at 15 with no qualifications and devoted himself to snooker. In 1990, he became the youngest world champion, at the age of 21 and was world No1 for eight consecutive years, between 1990 and 1998, and again in 2006-07. His main sponsors have included cue manufacturer Riley. For ten years that deal bought him an average £350,000 a year. Other contracts were from Bostik glue and Omega watches. Hendry was earning £1.5m a year in endorsements at the height of his career.
Hendry surprised the snooker world in May 2012 when he retired from the game after his quarter-final defeat at the world championship. His 27th and final campaign at the Crucible was one to remember. He was at his fluent best in recording a 147 maximum break in his first-round match before he destroyed defending champion John Higgins 13-4 in the second round.
