An Olympic gold medalist, Shawn Johnson is a retired artistic gymnast with an estimated net worth of $9 million as of 2012.

Born on January 19, 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa, Shawn Johnson started learning gymnastics at a young age of 3 after her parents saw her  jumping off tables and climbing cabinets.

Shawn Johnson is a silver medalist in the all-around and floor exercise  category, U.S. all-around champion (2007 and 2008), and 2007 all-around World Champion. In 2009, she became a contender in the eight season of Dancing With The Stars where she was hailed as the grand champion.

Prior to her professional career as a gymnast, Shawn Johnson has participated in a couple of gymnastics competition like Junior Olympics (U.S. Level 10) National Championships where she won first on beam, second on floor and fourth in the all-around. She finished third in the  2005 U.S. Classic competition. She also won in the 2006 U.S. Junior National All-Around Championship.

She won a silver medal during the 2008 Summer Olympics while her roommate Nastia Liukin took home the gold medal. Despite her success as a gymnast, Johnson has to retired in June 2012 primarily due to some problems with her left knee.

Throughout her entire professional career as a gymnast, Shawn Johnson has received several awards including  ESPY for "Best Female U.S. Olympian", "Athlete – Female" Teen Choice Award, AAU James E. Sullivan Award, Associated Press' 2008 Female Athlete of the Year,  and 2008 Teen Choice Award for best female athlete.
