Troy Aumua Polamalu, originally known as Troy Aumua, is a former American football player with an estimated net worth of $30 million. Most of which was been earned from his career as a strong safety player for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). He reportedly earned salary of $6.25 million in 2012.
Troy started early, like so many others who have made it big. He used to play for the University of Southern California when he was in college, and he made quite a name there. He earned almost All-American honors. While playing in the NFL Draft 2003, Troy was chosen by the Steelers in the first round only. He has been a part of both Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. He was elected twice to the Super Bowl and seven times for the Pro Bowl.
Troy is of American-Samoan descent. He was raised mostly by his uncle Salu Polamalu in South Oregon. He decided to change his name from Troy Aumua to Troy Polamalu, which is his mother’s maiden name, that was in 2007. He married Theodora Holmes and they have two sons – Paisios and Ephraim, who were born on 2008 and 2010 respectively. Troy’s wife is the sister of Alex Holmes an NFL player and alumnus at USC Trojans. When he has some spare time, Troy likes to go surfing, make furniture, do some gardening and play the piano.
Troy’s distinguished hairstyle makes it easy to spot him on the field. In 2010, when he appeared on “Mike and Mike in the Morning” where Troy admitted that the last time he had a hair cut was seven or eight years back. Troy was featured on the cover of the National Football League Megastars. 14 other NFL stars featured with him too. Eminem has written a song in 2010 that refers to Troy’s hair, in 2012, he also appeared in the movie “The Dark Knight Rises”.
