Samuel Jacob "Sam" Bradford was born on November 8, 1987 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He studied at the University of Oklahoma which offered him an athletic scholarship. From 2007 through 2009, he played for the university's football team, the Oklahoma Sooners.

Probably one of the most popular three-star recruits, Bradford was selected by the St. Louis Rams as a first round (first overall) pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. On the same year, he was named as the Rams Rookie of the Year  as well as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He is also a recipient of the Heisman Trophy.

On the 30th of July 2010, he was signed by the St. Louis Rams to a six-year  contract worth $78 million, with $50 million guaranteed compensation. The contract has a maximum value amounting to $86 million, which made the deal the largest contract ever rewarded to an NFL rookie.
