Robert Quinn's football career began when he attended Fort Dorchester High School as he joined the Patriots football team. He played for the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
He played for the University of North Carolina's Tar Heels football team in 2008. During his freshman year, he won the ACC's Brian Piccolo Award. But he wasn't able to play during the 2010 season when he was ruled ineligible by the NCAA regarding an investigation over lying about receiving travel accommodations and jewelry.
In 2011, he joined the NFL as Quinn was drafted by the St. Louis Rams. He signed a four-year contract with the Rams on July 31, 2011.
