Paul Kruger started his career when he was studying at Timpanogos High School and became a letterman for four years. He was the team captain and hailed as All-America quarterback.

After serving for two years as an missionary at Latter-Day Saint, he forego his two years in college at University of Utah. Kruger played for the Utah Utes in 2007 as he was chosen as second-team Freshman All-American.

Then, as a sophomore, he was named as honorable mention All-American by the Sports Illustrated and College Football News. Kruger was selected by the Baltimore Ravens during the second round, 57th overall pick at NFL Draft 2009.
