Michael Bennett was the defensive lineman during his stint for the Alief Taylor High School in Houston. While with the team, he recorded 110 tackles, and four quarterback sacks which he earned honorable mention All-District.

In college, he played for the Texas A&M Aggies in 2005. Bennett appeared in 11 games, made 42 tackles, and 2.5 sacks during his last year with the team. Upon landing a spot for Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2009, he was supposed to play as defensive end but he was placed to the inside as a pass-rushing tackle.

Bennett was waived by the Seahawks on October 10, 2009, and claimed off by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two days later. After four years, he returned to the Seahawks in 2013.

Michael Bennett, Jr. was born on November 13, 1985 in Avondale, Louisiana. He is the older brother of Chicago Bears' tight end player, Martellus Bennett.
