Matt Kalil started his career with the Servite High School and played for the Friars football team. In 2008, he joined the West squad for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Eventually, he started playing for the University of Southern California's Trojans where he was redshirted during his first year. After one season, he eventually served as backup to Tyron Smith at right tackle. During his stint with the team, he was named to All-American several times, and one of the semifinalist for the 2011 Lombardi Award.
Kalil was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings as a first round, 4th pick overall pick for the NFL Draft in 2012.
