Jordy Nelson started off his career when he attended Riley County High School. As a quarterback during his senior year, he completed 1,029 passes and 8 touchdowns. He was named by the Manhanttan Mercury as Flint Hills Player of the Year and was selected to the first-team All-Mid-East league twice.

In college, he went to Kansas State University and became a part of its Wildcats football team. Nelson was redshirted and played as a member of the team's 2003 Big 12 Championship. He was known as one of the best receivers that earned him the consensus All-American honors and one of the finalists for the Biletnikoff Award.

Nelson was selected by the Green Bay Packers as the second round, 36th overall pick during the 2008 NFL Draft. While with the team, they won the Super Bowl XLV, and NFC Champion in 2010.
