Jason Williams joined the DuSable High School's football team. During his stint with the team, he contributed 2,988 yards, threw for 3,015 and did a total of 71 touchdowns. He was a two-time All-City and All-Section selection.
In college, he played for the Western Illinois Leathernecks. He was redshirted during his freshman year with the team. Williams was named AP All-American and team's defensive MVP during the annual awards banquet. He recorded a career total of 289 tackles, 15 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, 12 pass breakups, and one interception.
Williams was chosen as the third round, 69th overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2009 NFL Draft. He appeared in five games and recorded two special teams tackles. He claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers. In 2011, he did 15 special team tackles and started 2 games at weakside linebacker.
He had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in October 2012. A month later, Williams played for 5 games with the Panthers and recorded 15 special teams tackles. In 2013, he moved to Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
