Eric Berry played for Creekside High School's football team. He was considered as one of the top players in Georgia, and Rivals.com ranked him number three in the nation. In college, he received an athletic scholarship from University of Tennessee.
He played for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2007 to 2009. Berry was an unanimous All-American and First Team All-SEC in 2008 and 2009. Also, he was named as the recipient of Jim Thorpe Award and Jack Tatum Trophy. Instead of finishing his stint for the team, he decided to forgo his last year of eligibility.
Berry was chosen as the first round, 5th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2010 NFL Draft. He was named 2010, 2012 and 2013 Pro Bowl.
