Brian Hoyer played football for the Saint Ignatius High School. In 2003, he completed 258 out of 412 passes over 5,570 yards as well as 45 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He was an Associated Press Division I all-state selection as a senior.
He joined the Michigan State Spartan football team in 2004 and was redshirted during his first year with the team. Hoyer was an honorable mention at the All-Big Ten selection. When he was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, he was not chosen during the 2009 NFL Draft and eventually, he signed a contract with New England Patriots.
Hoyer was released by the Patriots in 2012 and has been with several teams such as Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and Houston Texans.
