Brandon Marshall was born on March 23, 1984, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Central Florida where he played for the university's football team. After college, he was selected by the Denver Broncos as a fourth round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

He played for the Broncos until the 2009 season. On  the 14th of April 2010, he was traded by the team to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for  second round pick of both 2010 and 2011 NFL Drafts. On the same day, the Dolphins signed him to a four-year, $47.5 million extension contract. On the 13th of March 2012, he was sent to Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2013 pick and a 2o12 first round pick.
