Blake Bortles joined Oviedo High School's football team. He completed 151 of 233 passes for 2,211 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions during his senior year with the team. In college, he played for UCF Knights and was redshirted during his freshman year.

During his tenure for the Knights, he was named as te 2012 Beef 'O' Brady Brady Bowl MVP award and Fiesta Bowl Offensive MVP in 2014. Bortles decided to forgo his senior season of collegiate eligibility and entered the 2014 NFL Draft. He was selected as the first round, 3rd overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
