Aaron Michael Hernandez was born on November 6, 1989, in Bristol, Connecticut. Initially committed to the University of Connecticut, Hernandez decided to attend the University of Florida, where he played collegiately. During his sophomore year, he was a recipient of the John Mackey Award. Meanwhile, during his junior year, he was recognized by The Sporting News, the College Football News, and the Associated Press as first-team All-American. Eventually, he decided to forgo his senior year at the university, and declare himself eligible for NFL drafting.

In 2011, he was selected by the Patriots as its fourth round pick during the 2011 NFL Draft. In 2013, he ranked #77 on the NFL Top 100 list. However, his successful NFL career came to a halt when he was indicted for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013. If found guilty of first-degree murder, Aaron Hernandez will serve a life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

On April 14, 2017, Hernandez was found not guilty of a drive-in shooting in Boston in 2012. Five days later, he was found dead hanging by his bed sheet from his window in his cell at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster, Massachusetts.
